Kirsten graduated from Massey University with a Masters of Arts and Diploma in Clinical Psychology in 2004.  Her research thesis was in the area of treatment of anxiety disorders in children and adolescence.  Since completing her training as a clinical psychologist she has worked a number of mental health settings including an acute inpatient ward, community mental health and kaupapa Maori services. Thus developing knowledge of a wide range of mental disorders and experience in treatment planning and risk management.  Previous to this Kirsten was employed as a research fellow for the University of Otago. Projects she worked on included a large mental health epidemiological study.  Kirsten also has experience in working in non-government community and voluntary agencies.

Kirsten is employed in the Toward Well Being programme as a Clinical Advisor and works part time in a physical rehabilitation service.
