Kirsty Louden

Kirsty Louden is a registered Clinical psychologist who graduated from Victoria University in 1995. She has worked in a broad range of mental health settings in the public sector. These have included inpatient and outpatient adult services, child and adolescent services, and forensic mental health services. Kirsty also works in private practice providing outpatient psychotherapy, psychological assessments and treatments for prospective and current overseas aid workers, and consultation to Child, Youth and Family Services around applications for inter-country adoptions. Kirsty has experience in training and supervision in a number of settings to university students, social workers and other health professionals.

Kirsty has a strong interest in research, having worked part time as a research assistant at the Ministry of Health and The University of Otago in the areas of Suicide Prevention and Depression. She has also presented at a number of professional meetings, and has published in the area of child sex offenders.

Since 2001 Kirsty has been involved with the Toward Well Being Suicide Consultation and Monitoring Programme that provides clinical expertise to social workers around the identification, assessment and management of young people considered at high risk of suicide. She has worked in a clinical consultation role as both clinical advisor and as a member of the National coordination team. Since June 2005 Kirsty has also been the programme Clinical Manager involved in programme development, team support and liaison with key stakeholders.
