Roger Shave completed a Master of Science in Psychology (Distinction) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology in 1995. Initially, Roger worked in the Department of Corrections. For the last 12 years he has undertaken general outpatient assessment and treatment work in private practice. Currently he is Managing Director of Psychology Associates Dunedin; the largest group private practice in New Zealand (est. 1988). His clinical work involves providing psychological assessment and treatment services for clients with a range of mental health disorders.
Roger has worked as a clinical advisor for CASA's Community Postvention Response Service for the last three years. In the first instance he provided clinical expertise to assist Oamaru develop and establish the first community based postvention response plan in New Zealand. Subsequently, he has continued work as a clinical advisor providing consultation to communities responding to suicides and more specifically to assess and intervene in response to any signs of possible emerging suicide contagion.
Roger's other interest is in providing youth with greater options for healthy recreation/entertainment. He is the director and owner of a local music venue and activity centre whose objective is to provide good music, good activity, and good food to youth (and adults).
