Suze Malcolm holds a MA with in Psychology (1997) and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology with Distinction (2000) from Victoria University. She has worked in a variety of clinical roles for the last seven years. She became the first Clinical Psychologist within the Youth Offenders Unit at Rimutaka Prison, which was set up for vulnerable youth offenders. Within the unit she ran the group treatment programme and delivered individual treatment. She then left the Department of Corrections and was employed by Capital and Coast District Health Board. Within the DHB she was employed as part of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians at the Forensic Rehabilitation and Intellectual Disability Service in Porirua. In this role Suze was based on the inpatient secure ward where she delivered group and individual treatment. She also worked as part of the Forensic prison and community teams. Suze was also involved in writing psychological assessments for the Courts, including the Youth Court. More recently she has worked for the Regional Personality Disorder Service, a specialist team set up to consult with other mental health teams within the lower half of the North Island on issues related to personality disorder and risk management

She is experienced in individual and group treatment, delivering education and training to groups, and is a supervisor to other clinicians. During her time in the Regional Personality Disorder Service, she also completed training as a practitioner in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.

She now combines private work with being a Clinical Advisor on the Toward Well Being Programme, providing clinical expertise to social workers on the identification, assessment and management of young people at risk of suicide.
